EQUIPMENT Three 8-foot and three 6-foot rectangular tables, four 5-foot round cake tables, fifteen 30"-in-diameter round cocktail tables and 140 cushioned arm chairs are included with your rental.Additional furnishings, table linens and other items are not provided but may be rented from a number of local suppliers. RENTAL The rental fees private events in the Ballroom cover an eight-hour block of time from set-up to clean-up. Most people allow four hours to set-up the space, three hours for the reception and one hour for clean-up. Additional hours may be rented. If wine, beer or champagne is served at your event, there is an $50 surcharge. Rental fees are due one week prior to occupancy. Rates for private receptions and events as well as not-for-profit concerts, receptions, and meetings are available by calling the business office at 910-343-3660. SECURITY DEPOSIT A $200 security/damage deposit, payable to "Thalian Hall Center", is required to reserve the Ballroom. In the event of cancellation, the deposit is not refunded. The deposit may not be applied toward rental fees. The deposit is refunded within 30 days after your event provided all rules have been followed, all fees have been paid and there has been no damage. INVITATIONS Invitations
to receptions should read, SMOKING For the comfort of your guests and other users of the facility, smoking is not permitted anywhere within Thalian Hall or City Hall. Smoking is permitted only outside on the Chestnut Street portico. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES Only white or blush wine, champagne, and canned or bottled beer may be served to responsible guests over the age of 21. No spirits containing over 17% alcohol may be served. No red wine may be served because of the potential to stain the wool carpeting. No kegs may be used to serve beer. PARKING The parking lot located at the Chestnut Street entrance is the property of the New Hanover County Government and is available only after 5PM on weekdays and all day on weekends. At other times, two-hour parking is available on Third Street and Chestnut Street, and inexpensive parking is available at the nearby parking deck. (Free evenings and weekends) ENTERTAINMENT Amplified live music is not permitted in the Ballroom when there is a performance in another portion of the facility without express permission of the Executive Director. Any music or noise of any sort in the Chambers must remain at a level that will not disturb other users of the facility. CATERING There are a number of professional caterers in the Wilmington area that would be happy to serve at your event. ARRANGEMENT For the City Council meetings and other business activities, the Chambers will be arranged with 140 chairs facing the dais. The furnishings may be arranged in a variety of configurations. The Council desks on the dais may not be moved under any circumstances, though the smaller desks on the floor may be shifted if utilized. CLEANING At the end of your occupancy, you are responsible for removing all trash from the facility and placing it in designated receptacles outside. Any major spills should be wiped up. Furnishings should be shifted toward the walls to facilitate vacuuming of the carpet. Please refer all questions about the City Hall Chambers/Ballroom to Thalian Hall Business Office: 343-3661.
