Performance and Events on the Main StageThe Crown Jewel of Wilmington, historic Thalian Hall is one of the finest examples of 19th Century theatres in the United States. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and its restoration and renovation has been honored by the League of Historic American Theatres. Referred to within the facility as the Main Stage, Thalian Hall is the heart of the building. Built in 1858, its stage has been in continuous use since its opening and has hosted many celebrity artists including Buffalo Bill Cody, Lillian Russell, John Philip Sousa and Oscar Wilde. The tradition lives on with the Thalian Hall Main Attractions series of performances by major artists from around the world and the Cinematique Film Series. The 575-seat theatre also hosts a wide range of performances by Wilmington’s thriving arts community. Thalian Hall is the region’s leading resource for the presentation of diverse performing arts.
